One of our favorite activities to do as a family during the summer (or really, any time where our kids can convince us to and it’s over 70 degrees) is to go to a large swath of preserved space near our home and let them run wild in the stream that runs through the park. I love watching my children run away from me, through the grass, with the warm, glowing light bouncing off of their hair. When families ask me where they should have their family sessions, I love to suggest locations that mimic this feel.
This family photography session took place in the Philadelphia suburbs, right at the start of fall - see the trees just starting to turn? It’s tempting to plan your family session in the middle of fall (I’m just as guilty as forgetting to book family photos for holiday cards until I start seeing the Christmas decorations pop up at Target) but think about having your session in the late summer or early fall - weather is better, the sun sets later, and no need to shiver or wear heavy coats during your session.
